Sara Bouvier was born in upstate New York. The daughter of an antique dealer, her love and knowledge of jewelry began to grow at an early age. Her experience with antique pieces later influenced the creation of her classically-inspired Precieux and Un a Un collections. Working in real estate and as a gardener, Candy Bouvier is equally credited for her daughter's development as a designer. In addition to sharing Sara's interest in unique styles of jewelry, she introduced Sara to the importance of design, color choice and arrangement. While she enjoys her work as a high school teacher in the Boston Public School system, designing jewelry has become her passion. When she joined her father on a trip overseas, her creative side was fueled while strolling though the jewelry section at an open market. Captivated by all of the different colors and textures, she began stringing beads together and her artistic side was awakened. It was then her first line was created and successfully sold in the Adirondacks.
In 2006, after encouragement from family and friends, Bouvier Designs was created. It is a family run business. Sara regularly travels overseas with her father during school and summer vacations. This allows her to hand pick stones and findings to be used in her limited edition pieces. Back in New York, Candy manages the financial end of the business. Together they are extremely excited to introduce their jewelry line. Pieces in the Bouvier Designs collection range from delicate to chunky, yet all possess elegance in their own right. The El Mar collection was inspired by her summers on Cape Cod and its surrounding Islands. La Terre was inspired by her mother's love of the West. When asked what sets her line apart from others she says, "It is the little details incorporated into the design. Unexpected contrasts of texture can make all the difference in a piece, like combining champagne biwi pearls with coral branches. The result is simply unique and that is what our lines are all about."
Enjoy!
